The Etobicoke Dolphins set the tone early and never looked back, cruising to a commanding 6-1 victory over the Durham West Lightning in OWHL U22 Elite action. The Dolphins' offensive pressure was relentless from the opening puck drop, outshooting the Lightning 11-2 in the first period alone. Renee Bishop, wearing number 86, opened the scoring midway through the first, assisted by Madeline McCullough and Rachel Piggott. Just over two minutes later, McCullough doubled the lead with an unassisted effort, giving the Dolphins a firm 2-0 advantage heading into the intermission.
The second period saw the Dolphins extend their lead while the Lightning struggled with discipline. Durham West took two body contact penalties, but it was at even strength where Etobicoke struck. Bishop netted her second of the game early in the period, with helpers from Sydney Bowness and Rachel Bishop. Later, Madeline McCullough returned the favor to her linemates, scoring her second goal of the contest with assists going to Renee Bishop and Rachel Piggott, making it 4-0. The Lightning managed only five shots in the period against the stifling Dolphins defense and goaltender Maija St-Pierre.
Etobicoke put the game completely out of reach in the final frame, adding two more goals to their tally. Skylar Ruschpler and Haley Box found the back of the net, with Adrianna Milani picking up assists on both plays. The Lightning finally broke through goaltender Maija St-Pierre's shutout bid late in the third when Renee Lapointe scored, assisted by Peyton Fleming and Lorelai Himle. St-Pierre was solid in net for the win, turning aside all but one of the shots she faced, while the Dolphins' offense fired a staggering 42 shots on the Durham West net in a comprehensive team performance.
